The Assessment Process:
Each student is assessed on the year level they have most recently completed at school. For example, a student commencing year 7 will complete the year 6 assessment for numeracy, spelling and reading.
Each assessment is based on what a student is expected to know at the end of that year level according to the Australian Curriculum. Core concepts in literacy and numeracy will be assessed, and the results will indicate whether the student is achieving at the standard year level or highlight any gaps that need to be addressed. The assessor may choose to assess further levels below or above the initial year level depending on how the student performs.
Once completed, the diagnostic assessment report will display an accurate result of the student’s academic understanding and ability thus allowing Learning Pod educators to plan specific content based on concepts the student needs to work on initially.
Learning is an organic process of growth that flourishes over time. At the Learning Pod, we understand that each child has a unique learning style – hence our primary focus is to promote growth and success. Our assessment key reflects the stages of growth using the analogy of a seed; a seed germinates and gradually transforms from a seedling into a plant. Each student’s stages of growth will be reflected using the following key:
Indicates the student attempted all or most of the questions related to the curriculum outcome and got all or most of the questions correct.
Indicates the student attempted all or most of the questions related to the curriculum outcome but got all or most of the questions incorrect.
Indicates the student did not attempt the questions related to this curriculum outcome.
Our Assessments are aligned to the
Australia Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
Curriculum content descriptions are included on each diagnostic report.
