Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updated 25th of March 2020

Please ensure you still refer to COVID19 previous responses by Learning Pod Group

The government’s recent closure announcements indicate Learning Pod Group are able to operate as per usual. We have implemented social distancing measures in one-to-one and group sessions, begun online sessions for families self-isolating, and reduced the number of people entering by ensuring parents drop off at the door.

Our usual Terms and Conditions still apply. Two weeks’ notice is required if cancellation is required. If you are in financial hardship, please contact us as we have options available without your child’s education needing to suffer.

As of Monday 6th April, all sessions will be moved online.

One to one sessions will be DISCOUNTED to $55 for an hour.

Group sessions will move to one to one sessions at 20 minutes for $20.

Students in one to one and group combined packages will move to just one to one sessions, unless specifically requested by parents. One to one times will remain the same unless change is requested. Group student times will be emailed shortly.

  1. Your child will be provided with a care package over the next week including two weeks’ worth of hard copy work which will be used as a back-up if internet does not work during your session.
  2. Your child will be shown how to use the online portal at their next session.
  3. You will be emailed a link to practise logging into the online whiteboard – ensure you click the call button and enable your webcam and microphone.
  4. If online sessions fail due to internet issues, Skype or phone will be used while directing your child with the hard copy work provided.
  5. If you are financial hardship due to the current circumstances, please contact us for a payment plan so your child’s education can continue.
  6. We know how overwhelming this time is and school may provide your child with work. We can support you with this work – bring in a copy or email us an image and this can be worked on with your child.

Due to the added pressure to families working with their children at home and the requests we’ve had from families, we will continue to run sessions throughout the state holidays. If you do not wish for this to occur, please advise us promptly and your sessions will continue after the holidays.

If you have any troubles connecting or logging on, please call the store phone 1300 123 763. If you’re redirected to the call centre, leave a message as we will get it via email and can contact you as soon as it comes through.

Please email us with any queries.

Much love to all our families,

Learning Pod Team

Please ensure you still refer to Learning Pod’s COVID19 previous responses

Effective as of Tuesday 24th March, 2020.

  1. Parents and caregivers are to drop students off at the front door and collect at the end of the lesson outside the front door to eliminate the amount of people in store at any one time.
  2. Students not to sign in via iPad. They will sign in manually with staff at the door.
  3. We are complying to the latest social distancing rules: Group pods will be opened and tables will be spaced out for one to one sessions to allow for 2 metre gaps between people.
  4. Everyone who comes in store is required to sanitise their hands.
  5. Learning Pod staff will be regularly disinfecting surfaces.

Business is as usual at Learning Pod. We are here to continue offering support to you and your children with their education throughout this uncertain time.

If you are unable to attend due to health concerns, we still have options for you.

For our students in group sessions, we can email you the student’s planned work with notes for 50% of the usual cost. For the full price of the lesson we can provide a follow up call for up to 10 minutes.

Or you can do online sessions as a one to one student as below:

One to one sessions can occur online for a $55/hour or $30 half hour.

It is recommended you have a device with a webcam on it for these online sessions, if not, we can work around this.

If the internet is disrupted, we can send work and notes via email and follow up with a 20-minute phone call.

If you are in or suspect financial hardship, please ensure you contact us directly.

Please continue to keep in contact as needed,

Much love, Learning Pod Team.

Dear Families,

RE: Safety of our families & assistance with alternative education opportunities if a child is unable to attend sessions.

With the growing concerns around the spread of Coronavirus, we feel it is timely to communicate how we are responding as management of the Learning Pod Group.  We will be implementing recommendations set out by the Department of Heath WA and ask all parents, carers and students to follow these recommendations to help slow the transmission of the virus.

HEALTH OF STUDENTS, STAFF AND FAMILES

Individuals with COVID-19 show symptoms of

  • fever
  • flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue
  • shortness of breath

We are seeking your cooperation in that, if students are unwell, with any symptoms as listed above, please do not attend any Learning Pod Group sessions and seek medical advice. This also applies to all families, carers and siblings attending the ANY Learning Pod locations.  Please ensure the student is in full health and if you have travelled recently, that a doctor clears him/her before returning to ANY Learning Pod location. Given we have several staff and students who have pre-existing medical conditions including, life threating conditions, making them more susceptible, we appreciate your cooperation.

ATTENDANCE

We have adopted the advice from the Australian Government for schools, relating to attendance as follows:

Students cannot attend any Learning Pod Group Location, they must be isolated for 14 days, and the Learning Pod Group must be notified if any of the following apply:

  • left, or transited through mainland China in the last 14 days
  • left, or transited through Iran on or after 1 March
  • left, or transited through South Korea in the last 14 days
  • left, or transited through Italy in the last 14 days
  • been in close contact with a confirmed case of Coronavirus in the last 14 days

AS OF TODAY, 12TH OF MARCH 2020

  • ANY COUNTRIES OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA

Should Learning Pod Group students be placed in isolation, we have the capability to conduct classes online.

If this applies to you, please email management at info@learningpod.com.au immediately and outline the details of your travel or your exposure.

Your prompt response will allow us to support your child by providing alternative educational resources throughout this period of isolation. Your child’s emotional and educational needs are important to us.

AS YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY SEEN, STEPS THE LEARNING POD GROUP IS TAKING TO MINIMISE THE IMPACT OF COVID-19:

  • Speaking to all students about the need for additional hygiene practices such as
  • Thorough washing of hands
  • Covering mouth with elbow when coughing or sneezing
  • Avoiding touching their face
  • No sharing of drink bottles or food
  • Signs on all toilet doors to remind students about handwashing and instructions for thorough hand washing displayed in all bathrooms
  • Continued provision of hand soap and paper towels in all toilets
  • Additional cleaning of surfaces throughout the Pods.

During this time of uncertainty, we want to provide families with the assurance that we are working in line with the Health Department guidelines. We are looking at ways we can support our families remotely, if required.

Above all, our priority is the health and welfare of the students, staff and broader community.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Warmest regards,

Learning Pod Team
